i just started reading ABANDONMENT TO DIVINE PROVIDENCE, and on p. 12 of my edition, it says:
"And that is the cardinal principle of his. All things are sent and governed by God, and however troublesome they are, they will, if accepted gladly, lead us surely and quickly toward holiness."
The first part of that seems fatalistic, IMVHO, BUT bear in mind I am only in beginning of the book. I believe the latter part of the above can also be found in I Thess. 5:18 [paraphrasing here!]; In all things give thanks.... not just the good, but ALL things. yet when De Caussade says all things are SENT and GOVERNED by God...it touches on fatalism.
If anyone wishes, i would like clarification...if there is one!!! :)
blessings, and grace,
anne
