April: we are always serious....but seriously speaking. I have read and re-read your post and it seems that in some way Bede is talking about the end time. Go to I Cor. 15:24-28 to get the context {and read the whole chapter as well}
:v24 "then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, after he [Jesus] has destroyed every ruler and every authority and power. 25. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27For God has put all things in subjection under his feet....28 When all things are subjected to him, the the Son himslef will also be subjected to the one who put all things in subjection under him, so that God may be all in all."
To me, this means that all rule and power in the world will come to an end [and we should live each day as if that is right around the corner]...
IMVHO, Jesus will come, bring everything into captivity under his feet--the final victory-- and then will give it all up to God, the Creator and sustainer of all. He was in the beginning, he will be the ending. Jesus, ourselves, and all of creation will be put into subjection unto God. God will be All.
This is a tough reading, and I am anxious to hear what someone else has to say. For me, it has to do with bringing, at the end time, all things back unto the Father when everything will return to the original harmony! Can't hardly wait!!!
April, I would also be interested in how you interpret this as well....
Thanks for making the grey cells work!
blessings, and grace,
