It sounds like your pastor is poorly prepared for his messages, or else he is an off-the-wall extravert of some kind.
I can understand your frustration with the liturgy, but I hope this is not your only way of feeding your spirit. Your post makes no mention of the role of personal prayer, spiritual reading, study groups, retreats, spiritual direction, etc. in your life. These means of obtaining grace can surely help you out of your slump--much moreso than getting a focused, prayerful priest could ever do.
