johnboy:

well, what nice company! the church hierarchy! ;-]

joking aside, I am glad the question was a valid one...I wasn't so certain what with the variety of answers/nonanswers I was getting. But all questions have many answers and usually we pick the answer WE like, right?

Coming into the church at such a late age [let us not go into how many, ok?], it is hard for this questioning soul to simply accept what the Church says simply because the Church says it.

I know I do trust the Church not to lead me astray, yet when one looks at the history, there was one [one that I know of] where many of the bishops voted against such as the trinity only later to recant.or something like that! the Church has fought many battles and yet She still stands because She is The Church. So trust comes slow! Well for me at least!

Yet I continue to know 3 things without a shadow of a doubt: 1. the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist, 2. the Church is THE one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, and 3. the healing aspect of the Rite of Reconciliation.

Again, johnboy...thanks for your help. I is reading away! And, hey! if you get kicked off, we are all in trouble!!!

blessings, and grace,
anne
