: The assertion was that the Bible supports the foundation of Roman Catholicism. I was simply stating that there is no evidence of this.

Nor is there evidence to refute it, IMHO.

: What is the harm in examining our current practices and traditions and trying to get back to what the church originally was? In the early churches, there were very few divisions, very few doctrinal disagreements, very few of the things that currently divide us today.

Are we reading the same New Testament? There are problems galore in the early Church, so much so that the Council of Jerusalem was needed to resolve some of them. This idea of a time in the Church when there was only peace and harmony (which was screwed up by Catholicism) is only fanciful thinking. Have you read the early Fathers? There were heretics galore.

: Particularly, there were fewer teachings regarding church practices and traditions that cause so much division and resentment in the Body of Christ.

Because there was a shorter history and less time for heretics to find ways to dilute the Gospel.
