Kung was censured Kung in 1979 when, among many things, he questioned papal infallibility.

He, along with Charles Curran and a few others, were a bit toooo liberal and progressive for the Vatican. And, to keep myself in line, I hang with the Vatican.
It is one thing to dispute 'within' but not publicly. And it seems that the American Bishops have reiterated that viewpoint, to some degree, when they issued their directives or such in Atlanta this month. I would have to look it up, but I am pretty sure you are very aware of it.

Now I must be off to Mass....
