Between fallen humanity and Christ, there are no intermediate stages. There was a cultural evolution in Judaism which helped to form the human psyche so that we could receive Christ, but that's not the same thing as ontological development (to use a term very popular on this thread).

I'm with you on this one, Fides. A better computer OS analogy would be the jump in Mac from OS 9.1 to OS X, which Apple did not label OS 10 to indicate the radical discontinuity of the upgrade. Perhaps going from Windows 98 to 2000 is similar. I'm not sure. Woody has mentioned this radical discontinuity in another post, so I say amen to that as well.

Mac OS X is built around the Unix OS, which is about as robust and versatile as they get. Only one problem: it's very user-unfriendly. The Mac OS - Unix hybrid that OS X is brings the strengths of both operating systems together. So, OS X would be a more apt analogy for the Incarnation, with OS 9.1 representing the human and Unix the divine.

Of course we both know that OS X is not the end of the line. There will be endless versions of this OS as well, while Christ is the sum and goal of evolution.

Pax to you too,

Philoman
