: So, to borrow a phrase from one of Josh McDowell's books, "Who Moved the Stone?" No philosophical answer, sir. And no changing the subject to kamikazee pilots and the like.
So what if all my apologists were atheists? If you prefer, go ask all the Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, Shintoists, Scientific Materialists, Hindus and the billions upon billions of other non-Christians "Who moved the stone?" Do you seriously believe that someone like Josh McDowell has emprically, logically, conclusively and coercively demonstrated the truth CLAIMS of Christianity.
I will concede that what a good apologist like McDowell has done is to have demonstrated the logical coherency and internal consistency of his religion. I thank Woody or jboy, whomever, for pointing that hermeneutic out. It is the external congruence and historical validity of what happened before and after the stone was moved that creates the impasse.
Please don't take my lack of validation of your belief as a personal insult or rejection. If you treat my presuppositions and viewpoints with respect, I'll certainly return the favor. Those who write me off as an imbecile for my skepticism toward their truth claims can go right ahead but, remember, Christianity isn't the only worldview.
And, you know what, and this may come as a surprise to Fe, Charlotte, you and others, I sincerely wish the Resurrection Myth was true! But for crying out loud, I'm not the only person standing in line waiting to be convinced somehow! If THAT'S what you need to live an unfrustrated life or to be satisfied with your forum participation, well ... my condolences, indeed.
Furthermore, Occam's Razor has varied usefulness and produces mixed results but when it comes down to the brass tacks of this discussion --- the fact that we all die and then rot has a LOT more credibility and, as they call it, the preponderance of the evidence weighs heavily against people returning from the grave.
But look, howzabout we return to the Human OS/ Christ OS thread? I'm very interested in what has happened to the Human OS over the centuries and would be willing to suggest that there is a sociobiologically-based cultural evolution which has produced a distinctly new operating system from what humans enjoyed in premodernity. It doesn't have the same ontological origins nor all of the *functionality* y'all have described (like immortality) but I can see some parallels.
What say I get a chance to contribute in that manner and we drop this nondialogic exchange with you dogmatic fundamentalists?
thanks,
Ivan
ps Who moved the stone? I dunno - you mean when they closed the grave? or what? obviously it could be moved and, realist that I am ... forget it
