: Challenges from science and philosophy have helped religion to discard irrational elements, to achieve a unity of its beliefs, to relate them to knowledge and to beliefs that have come from other sources. These challenges also help to clarify its concepts so they can better be communicated.

Loretta, please don't quote the entire message when responding, just excerpt it.

BTW, you left off something else you should have learned at Cape Cod, girl. Science and philosophy ALSO examine the claims of religion, critically, comparing them to TRUTH!

Usually, these examinations uncover tons of dogmatism, ritualism and legalism in religions, not to mention conflicting claims between competing religions.

Obviously, the need to believe haunts man, a flaw in DarwinOS that needs debugging, probably an articfact of deep-rooted survival instincts. Perhaps we could eradicate more social ills if so much valuable time weren't spent chasing some pie in the sky hereafter!

That is what compels me, morally. They have said that man evolving from the apes is about as probable as a monkey sitting down at a keyboard and writing some coherent treatise. So far, that is the strongest argument I've heard against evolution. It has really got me scratching my head. With all the millions of monkeys connected to the internet, typing away at their keyboards, especially in forums like this one, I haven't seen one coherent treatise from a believer yet!

Now, Loretta, go ahead and turn red in your frustration. You're even more beautiful when you're outdone with me! I think I'll make an astral trip to Sedona right now - ready for me?

LOL!
Ivan
