I don't understand why human nature needed upgrading in the first place as our being is no different than Godde's being. The entire cosmos, all of creation - WE are all ONE. Ontological-schmontological, it seems to me rather arrogant of Christianity to make such truth claims about Christ being over and above the other great mystics of other great traditions.
At-one-ment was attained by the ancients long before the Jewish-Christian-Islamic traditions. It is both our origin and our destiny. The universe is unfolding as it should and all we need to do is to awaken to this and to drop our judgements.
Human nature doesn't need anything added for, actually, spirituality is more about subtracting, subtracting our judgmental outlooks, our egos and, finally, our very conception of self. In our no-self state of absolute awareness we realize our oneness. What we need, imho, is not an upgrade of our being, but a virus-removal program which removes all of the code which does not belong to the universal Christ-consciousness!
Eric, I know you have something to say about this! And Ivan, can't you see that you can be a materialist, a monist, a nondualist without having to be an atheist? The insights of the East have done so much to enhance my own understanding of my Catholic upbringing and, those insights suggest that there is no gulf between science and religion, naturalism or supernaturalism. If you read more of the new physics, Ivan, of relativity and quantum mechanics, well, I think you'd come around.
The nondual approach to reality is what can reconcile your views, Philo's, Fe's, etc The Anti-Virus Program is what is needed, not some operating system upgrade to an already perfect hardware-software configuration!
