: Better methods are being designed. Better concepts are being articulated. These methods and concepts are better suited for studying mystical experiences, for instance, scientifically.
Woody makes some good points here, Ivan, although the empirical methodology which might gather useful data about mystical experience is in embryonic stages (perhaps, i don't know, just suspect same)
i would further add to T and Woody's excellent observations that, in evaluating others' stances, whether epistemological, ontological, metaphysical, theological or scientific, you may wish to focus, not primarily or always, on your points of disagreement at the level of presuppositions, but go deeper and give these other viewpoints a chance to demonstrate their logical coherency, internal consistency and external congruence with reality as you experience it
you'll encounter some good thinkers and will grow from the experience; at the least, you'll become a good debater, one who knows his opponents arguments and apologetics better than she knows herself
i admire your dedication to the truth and encourage your openness to all valid methods of acquiring same, in all hierarchical realms (and this will require epistemological flexibility); take your focus off of product and system where we can argue interminably and turn it on process and method for awhile and you'll reap many rewards
may a pax be upon you!
