It's an interesting question and one that identifies sophisticated problems with the attempt to view Genesis historically. As I understand it, in the Orthodox Church the real significance of the Fall is its relevance to the individual rather than is application to humanity as a whole. We each experience the Fall when we take on bodies and inherit ancestral sin.
