April: I have been fortunate in not running into any of these 'fundamentalist' priests and pray that I don't. I heard enough in the penetecostal church to turn me off for a lifetime. It is this type of priest/preacher that tries to put the 'millstone' around our necks! Jesus came to remove that ole milstone through His sacrifice and especially through Grace. What that priest was throwing out was a form of legalism which is totally deadly!
Grace, grace, and all Grace....without the Grace we are doomed to try to live by rules purported by these types of priests/preachers. May God deliver us from such.
As for the sin of no-liking John Paul...there is a difference between liking and being obedient when he speaks excathedra... I don't have to like him [I do most of the time but disagree on some of his views] but when he speaks as Christ's representative on earth, then I must obey.
May our dear Abba Father preserve us from the fundamentalist priests...but even more so, may His Holy Spirit bring change to the first type you mentioned, April. Change him to be more like the loving second priest.
