I recently read an article in NCR ("Rigali intervenes: feeding tube must stay", 10/20/00) about a Bishop
who insisted that artificially administered food and water be given to a man in "a persistent vegetative state" as long as he remained in a Catholic hospital.
The article goes on to state conflicting views in the Church concerning this matter.
My question is:
What can one possibly do to prevent bishops from interfering with ones' living will in cases of disagreement?
(...other than not receiving care at a Catholic facility.)
Thank you.
