My understanding is that you can simply leave notarized instructions to family members to the effect that you don't want any artificial life support if you have a condition that has no chance of improvement. This is not the same as assisted suicide, but is allowing nature to take its course. If such instructions are in place, then there should be no controversy--not even in a Catholic institution.
