Phil, I'm afraid you misunderstood what I meant by "degraded system." I am not here to bash Catholicism.

What kind of person do you think I am? Do you really think that a fellow believer would come to your bulletin board just to bash Catholicism? Please...give me more credit than that! I haven't come to this board to insult you or your faith.

As you pointed out in you first response to this, the whole entire system of Christinity had fallen to one sort of degradation or another. That was my point. As far as Catholicism is concerned, this discourse of discussion was on the Biblical evidence for Christ having founded a religion. And, as I'm sure you would agree, the Hoy Roman Church was not immune to corruption in the early days, just as every other sect of Christinity was not immune in those days - or in these days, for that matter....My church included.

When Christ began His earthly ministry the Jewish religion had fallen to much curruption and hypocrisy. What I believe the Bible gives evidence of, is that Christ came to recover those that had been lost and deceived under that corruption. You will note that Jesus made no attempt whatsoever to recover the Pharisees. As He said, "Those who are strong have no need of a physician, but those who are ill."
Jesus kept the feasts and traditions. Of course He did! He was a proper man. But was His intention that man keep these very same traditions after His death? I don't believe so (there is also evidence that He broke those traditions for the sake of those He was caring for). The only things Jesus commanded of His disciples was that they love and honor one another, that they remember Him whenever they meet (through the taking of the Lord's Supper), and that they preach the Gospel to the nations. Today, christians do not observe Jewish holidays. We observe holidays that help us to remember the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice for us.

Phil, I'm sorry that we've had this misunderstanding. Perhaps it would be better if we simply did not discuss our thoughts on denominationalism. More correctly, maybe I should just keep my keyboard closed to the subject entirely. We obviously stand on opposite end of the ring on this one. I was probably foolish of me to take up the challenge in kerari's post in the first place...

Peace to you

~G
