Quite a few believers on this board have written very coherently and intelligently about the reasonableness of faith, especially in light of the OS analogy.
But, truth be told, you will never find any argument 100% airtight or convincing. That's because intellectual faith can never be more than reasonable. It's not on the same plane at all as scientific or even philosophical disciplines.
There are good reasons to believe, as some have noted, that the origin of the Church stems from the resurrection. A scoffer can always find reasons to doubt.
Likewise, if someone tells you they love you, there are reasons to believe, and reasons to doubt. There is no such thing here as absolute certainty or proof. Sooner or later one must "go beyond" into the realm of relationship and trust, bringing the head along, but not requiring the relationship to "measure up" to all standards of the heart.
I see you as a man who is ready to "go beyond," but who is afraid to do so. That's understandable, for something of that reticence lingers in all believers. But I assure you that you will never find what you're really looking for through intellectual inquiry. Faith is more than that, as is love, relationship, and all the good things of life.
