Hans Kung would say you have an unjustified and paradoxical trust in uncertain reality. At least most religious believers know why they trust reality. Our trust is internally consistent, logically coherent/reasonable and externally congruent: faith, hope and love; truth, beauty and goodness.
Perhaps you are feeding the computer input and expecting output for which no algorithm exists?
I think you'd really appreciate Augustine and Aquinas. Your mind is up to that task and would find much to admire, even if you disagree with them. If you want a contemporary apologists, read Hams Kung.
Thanks for your challenges (even if, in charity, I must point out you inject too many ad hominem digs, however indirect). What about that Lonergan material and challenge to empiricism (regarding how we know what we know)?
