: A question for you, Mr. Wise Guy: with the Second Law of Thermodynamics stating that energy moves to an ever more dispersed and static state, how does one explain the existence of life on earth? Where did the intelligence and "push" against the Second Law come from?
: Chew on that with your atheistic teeth awhile.
Fe, all
No insult was intended. I'll cool the rhetoric, Eric. But jeepers creepers.
There ain't nothing to "chew on" regarding any "push" in the Second Law. Scientists have long known that, in far from equilibrium environments, nonquilbrium thermodynamics allows for (demands even) the emergence of novel structures. The greater the number of permutations and bifurcations involved in the building of such structures, the more fragile.
Like Humpty-Dumpty, very small parts of the cosmos with seeming "negative entropic" processes and their resulting structures, will all come tumbling down. The sun's got another four and half billion years or so, but long before the helios burns out ... well, chew on THAT! Do I have to draw you a picture?
There ain't nothing supernatural about nonequilibrium thermodynamics! Just more chaos, more random chance, more time and a few admittedly low probability happenstances (dissipative structures they are known as) which will vanish relatively quickly in the whole vast illusionary scheme.
BTW, I am not an atheist but an agnostic, looking for compelling evidence (although my "faith" in this forum's ability to yield any credible evidence is severely being shaken).
