: Fe, Philo - so all we're talking about is some powerful command line editing/executing program is being changed into a graphical user interface? That doesn't sound like "radical discontinuity" to me but more like Jungian individuation, becoming whole-brained, quite a *natural process*.

Well, the jump to OS X in the Mac environment is a little more complicated than that. It's like changing the kind of engine the OS runs on--sort of like going from a four-cylinder gasoline engine to a diesel. That's radical discontinuity.

: I still think that what most of the world's time-honored great traditions provide are anti-viral programs: the attainment of oneness, the cessation of desires, nirvana, satori, sainthood, all accomplished by deleting bad code and letting the original program run without interference.

: Is that what you mean by the fall? A virus was introduced?

I see that Fides has opened a thread inviting us to consider the Fall-Redemptive aspects of this analogy. Let's take it up in full there. But I can already tell you that I think there's real potential in seeing the fall as a virus.

Peace,

Philoman
