: Who was it that said to consider what would happen if we conceived of this OS as a "thou" instead of an "it". Maybe there is little practical consequence from which direction we go here if we just call both the it and thou ---> consciousness? I still easily square all of this with much of my Catholic upbringing.
Well, well, well, Lo-ret-ta, I was pretty sure it was you (there aren't too many Catholic-Hindus named Loretta running around in these Religion-Science forums, I'd imagine). When I first saw you at breakfast, that morning on the Cape, I really was taken aback by your classic beauty, those big brown eyes. It wasn't until I saw you later that day on the beach that I knew you weren't one of those fundamentalist types (you were far too scantily clad for that!).
And you did NOT seem much put-off by either my admiration of your physical attributes or my intrigue with your metaphysical attitudes, at least the attraction was not "purely physical", as they say, but also metaphysical ;>)
I am going to RSI this year but I'm in the middle of changing ISP's and e-mail, so any private correspondence will have to wait a couple of weeks. As I tried to get across to you before, metaphysical monism IS a lot to have in common BUT the material versus immaterial, and even the nontheism-pantheism chasm, are both wide and deep. The only way I could concieve of immortality is Tipler-style or Kurzweil-ishly, cybernetically. That's what I hope to contribute to this operating system metaphor.
Great hearing from you. Think I'll go pull out my conference memorabilia and photo album right now!
Later Honey Lips!
