I was protestant for SO long, that all too often I am forgetful regarding the very important part that tradition has played. In reading HEAR OUR SILENCE an upclose and personal look at the Carthusians in England, this comment was made:
"it is felt that by that age [40 years of age], they may not be capable of the full inner change that is to be expected in a younger man." I realize that is for a very strict Carthusian order, but I could see some [a wee bit] of that for myself in that I have been protestant for so very long that MY first thought comes from that background. But I am learning!!!!
