Phil,

I am trying to catch up, so to speak, with your posts. This format is getting a bit unwieldy for me. So, please excuse any blunders I might make in the process.

: You do not possess divinity, so it is not yours to "realize."

"The grace bestowed on us by the ascension of Jesus is the divinization of our humanity...."
(p. 71) "The Heart of the World" by Thomas Keating

No, we don't possess it but it is part of our humanity.

.......
: So, given that understanding, I'm not sure what you mean by your Christ self. Nor does your explanation of sin as somehow missing the mark of Christ self make much sense to me unless I know what you mean by Christ self. To my knowledge, the only Christ self I have is Christ, who is not me, but who has integrated me into His Being through grace. If you are saying that you think your real self is divine, and that you can somehow "realize" this as something you possess ontologically rather than by grace, then count me out. That's Hinduism, and I just don't buy it.

Phil, there is our false self and our Christ self.
As our false self dies, our true self or Christ self is realized. In other words, we had it before but we didn't know it was us. Our Christ self is who we really are.

I don't understand what you don't understand. :)

:)
