There are a few reasons given and extracted out of common sense:
Women menstraute and are considered "unclean" - s theory told to me in my early years of Christianity.
Also, think about it - assuming the Bible was doctored a bit (as it was written long after the actual happenings) remember that society has always been male dominated, and since the Catholic Chursh is so dogmatic, they won't care to change their rules. Of course, one has to wonder that if there really IS a God, would it be a He? I believe that a God would be of no gender, but a guiding force that knows no discrimination. And so, with a religion developed by MEN, naturally they would only want MEN to be ordained. Times change, and if all are created squal in the eyes of God, then why hasn't this been employed long before women's lib?
