I think Violet has made some good responses to your questions and comments, so I'll pass on the degree of sinfulness of masturbation vis a vis raping a nun.
I disagree that conversion means forcing one's faith onto others. That kind of thing was done centuries ago, but I doubt that any real substantive conversions took place. You can make people go to Church, but that's not conversion.
Conversion means turning your life around--metanoia, in Scripture. All religions call for something like this. That Christianity invites people to conversion is a good thing, I believe. I don't see where the arrogance and vanity come in.
