: What I thought about was how Christ did much the same with our human nature. By becoming incarnate as a man, he took our human nature and "upgraded it" into his human-divine nature. He is like a new OS that preserves the distinctive features of the old--our basic human OS--but elevates it to a new level of potentiality, energy and stability.

Philo,

I won't belabor each point of your paradigm except to say that there is no reason to conceive of these changes in *human nature* as anything other than the products of biological and/or cultural evolution.

Occam's Razor (a Franciscan's philosophy, btw) suggests we stick with the simplest explanation that works. Your Christ OS introduces a "super"natural dimension which is simply not needed in advancing our understanding of products which are explainable vis a vis natural processes in a material (not spiritual) universe.

I've agreed to be a friendly devil's advocate in this forum before and, if you invite my participation here in this particular thread as well, I'll be glad to provide the natural/materialist counterpoints to your unfolding analogy.

Sincerely,
Ivan
