Here Now in Love
The Roots of Christian Mysticism
by Philip St. Romain
". . . life is a never-ending flow of opportunities from which to choose, the only choice which brings peace and happiness is to 'be here now in love.'"
For modern men and women, contemplative spirituality seems an ever-elusive goal. All of the to-do lists and challenges of life make so many demands upon us that there appears to be time for little else. Yet there is a yearning for that moment of comfort--that experience of peace--in which the spirit is refreshed and life itself restored.
Here Now in Love is about finding the peace and joy that comes from developing an intimate relationship with God. Too often, we are discouraged by the belief that anything but the most basic spirituality is beyond the reach of the common person. But nothing could be further from the truth. By learning to live in the present moment and letting go of the past, by focusing on what our senses reveal to us, we find that we are constantly presented with new opportunities for a deeper relationship with the Lord. Once mastered, the ability to live in the present moment, coupled with the gift of seeing the world as full of God's presence, will allow us to be here now in love.
This book provides depthful discussion and practical guidance on living a more comtemplative life. Chapters focus on the miracle of the present moment, methods of contemplative prayer, cultivating inner silence, letting go of the past, the attitude of willingness, living in faith, the four modes of Christ's presence, and many more.
